About Joseph John Shepherd VIII, Esq.

J.J. was born in Pittsburgh, PA.  He went to college in New Orleans, LA, lived in New York, NY for five years and now lives with Dave in Santa Monica, CA, where the couple got engaged.  When he is not busy working as an associate at an immigration law firm, he enjoys riding bikes along the beach with Dave, hiking with their dogs Harley and Stella, and enjoying Southern California living with his nearest and dearest.  

About David Vincent Detlefsen Reynolds

Dave was also born in Pittsburgh, PA.  He went to college in Los Angeles, CA and moved to New York following college to be with JJ and attend graduate school--with an unforgettable summer in New Orleans in between.  After 20 months in New York City together, Dave won and they moved back to sunny Southern California.  When Dave is not advocating and educating for the wellbeing of LGBTQ youth, you can find him,  JJ, Harley and Stella out with friends, watching a Steelers game or on an adventure.

How We Met

Dave and J.J. met in the summer of 1994 when they were both campers at Sheldon Calvary Camp in Conneaut, OH. While they both went on to become staff members at Calvary teaching swim lessons and sailing, they never worked there at the same time.  They remained in touch over the years through their mutual camp friends until the Spring of 2006 when fate and/or said camp friends brought them together.  They began dating soon after, and have been together ever since.
